Through the Magnifier
New advanced selections thrive in our plots at Lavaltrie.
Luc Lareault nursery has invested time and energy in strawberry breeding for more than 10 years. Associated with Agriculture and Agrifood Canada along with other Canadian partners, the nursery has evaluated already over 250 advanced strawberry lines. Through the magnifiers stands now an early selection, two mid-seasons and one late season strawberries. Those four selections have been studied more seriously for their general appearance, flavor, firmness, harvest season, yield potential and disease tolerance. 2011 is a milestone for Luc Lareault. A day neutral program begins. Already 70 advanced selections thrive in our plots at Lavaltrie.
For the last five years we have been investigating a handfull of selections from Europe and North-America. Among others, this year stands under the magnifier Benicia and Mojave from California, the French variety Capriss as well as others from North America. This represents dedicated and detailed efforts that will benefit Luc Lareault’s clientele in the future.
